• The biggest infrastructure is the IBM p690 Regatta Server - the largest and fastest of its kind in this part of the world. The server with four separate partitions named after the four illustrious sons of Bengal - Acharya Prafulla Chandra Roy, Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose, Dr. Meghnad Saha and Dr. Satyendra Nath Bose - runs on both Unix (IBM AIX) and GNU/Linux. It has 16 PowerPC4+ processors and a total main memory of 32 GB with flexibility of assigning variable amount of resources to the partitions on the fly through the Hardware Monitoring Console.

  • The machine is connected through Jadavpur University's Campus - wide fibre optic LAN, providing easy access by faculties and departments.

  • Two Memoranda of Understanding have been signed between Jadavpur University and IBM.The first of these is of a general nature while according to the second Jadavpur University is a part of IBM's worldwide centre for Advanced Studies program.

  • The Centre has set up wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) covering part of the Departments of Computer Science & Engineering and Electronics & Tele-Communication Engineering. Similar Wi-Fi LAN has been set up in the Salt Lake Campus of the University linking all the departments.

  • A Centre library with approximately 231 titles has been set up for use by all members of cmcc the faculties involved in various project works in the fields of mobile computing and communication.

  • A comprehensive laboratory has been set up to perform experiments on various physical layers of mobile communication as part of the central facilities of the Centre for Mobile Computing & Communication. 

  • An IBM p650 server has been installed in the month of July, 2005 at the Salt Lake campus of the University and is currently operational.
